Andriy Chebykin is a participant in national and international art exhibitions. As a pedagogue, he created a unique school of printmaking. Since 1985, he has been the head of the free graphics workshop at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. From 1989 to 2020, he was the rector of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. During his tenure at the institution, while maintaining the best traditions, he reoriented the educational process to allow students to freely reveal their creative abilities.

Andriy Chebykin is a founding academician of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine, President of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine from 1997 to 2022.

А. Chebykin is a co-author of the textbook "Technique of Etching" (1978) for art universities. Many of his former students turned out to be famous artists, winners of various art contests and exhibitions, and received honorary titles of Ukraine. He works in easel, book graphics, and monumental art. The graphic series he created impresses with the depth of thought and expressiveness of the artistic form, elegant fluency of execution. Among the important artistic and plastic principles developed by the artist and pedagogue A. Chebykin is the principle of skilful, inventive combination of the metaphorical language of symbols and signs with the plastic qualities of the texture of graphic materials (paper, cardboard, etc.).

Awards: Order of the Senator's Star of the European Academy of Natural Sciences (2009), Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise 4th (2016) and 5th Class (2011), Order of Merit 1st (2007), 2nd (2004), 3rd (1997) Class, Certificate of Honour of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (2006), Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine (2007), Gold Medal named after M. Grekov (1989), the honorary award of the Mayor of Kyiv "Badge of Honour" (2006), the Gold Medal of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2006), the I. Ohienko Prize (1996), and the Georgiy Yakutovych Diploma (2010).

Biography

1946 — born on 14 April in Haisyn, Vinnytsia region.
1970 — graduated from Kyiv State Art Institute (since 2000 - National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture).
Since 1970 — began lecturing at the Kyiv State Art Institute.
1980—1987 — Vice-Rector of the Kyiv State Art Institute.
1987—1989 — Head of the Kyiv Organisation of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, member of the Board and the Secretariat of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, the Board and the Secretariat of the USSR Union of Artists.
Since 1989 — Rector of the Kyiv State Art Institute (since 2000 - National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture). 
1996 — Academician-founder of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine.
1997 — elected President of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine.
2001—2005 — member of the Committee for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine.
2009 — Member of the National Commission for UNESCO.
2009 — Senator of the European Academy of Natural Sciences.
Chairman of the Ivan Ohienko Prize Committee.
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
