Oleksii Rohotchenko is a Ukrainian art historian, expert and art critic, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1979), Professor (07.09.2021), PhD in Art History (2017); Honoured Artist of Ukraine (2005); Head of the Criticism and Art History Section of the Kyiv Organisation of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (KONUAU), editor-in-chief of the MARI collection "The BRIDGE (AHMT): Art, History, Modernity, Theory"; curator of national and international projects, co-curator of the Ukrainian pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale (2011), Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2021).
He studies the biographies of masters of Ukrainian decorative art, including Petro Pechornyi, Liudmyla Zhohol, Volodymyr Borozenets, Ivan Apollonov and others. He is the author of numerous scientific publications, art history works produced for radio and television programmes, and monographic studies. Since 2001, he has been the head of the Criticism and Art History Section of the KONUAU.
Since 2003, he has been the editor-in-chief of the collection of scientific works of the MARI "The BRIDGE (AHMT): Art, History, Modernity, Theory". The Collection of Art Studies is a unique professional publication that covers practically all spheres of artistic life in the country. It is characterised by tolerance to different, sometimes fundamentally opposite views, schools, trends and preferences of contemporary art history and cultural studies.
Curator of national and international art projects; co-curator of the Ukrainian pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale with the commissioner V. Sydorenko and the artist Oksana Mas (2011).
