Sokoliuk Liudmyla is a Ukrainian art historian; PhD in Art History (2004), Professor (1997); Head of the Department of Theory and History of Art at the Kharkiv State Academy of Arts and Design; researcher of Ukrainian monumentalism and Boychukism.
She was born on 16 November 1937 in Kharkiv. In 1960, she graduated from Kharkiv State University. She worked on the study of Ukrainian art of the 1920s and 1930s, Ukrainian monumentalism, and Boychukism. PhD Candidate of Art History since 1987, PhD in 2004 (thesis topic: "Mykhailo Boychuk and his concept of the development of Ukrainian art in the early 20th century". She has been working at the Kharkiv State Academy of Art and Design, a professor since 1997; Head of the Department of Art Theory and History.
In 2004, she defended her thesis for the degree of PhD in Art History on the topic "Mykhailo Boychuk and his concept of the development of Ukrainian art (the early 20th century)". In this work, she explores Boychuk's creative heritage and analyses his influence on the development of Ukrainian art.
In 2002, she published the book Graphics of the Boychukists, where she describes the technique and style of Boychuk and his students in graphic art. In 2014, the book Mykhailo Boychuk and His School was published, where the author explores in detail the artist's life and work, as well as the influence of his concept on the development of Ukrainian art. The book contains numerous illustrations and photographs that help the reader gain a better understanding of the work and views of Boychuk and his students.
