Guests, both foreign and Ukrainian, could not stay untouched. Unable to hold back their tears, they watched the screen and gazed at the photos showing Ukrainian heroes on the frontline, documenting the tragic events of the war, and at the same time, the faith in Ukraine's victory. During the 120th Le Salon d'Automne (Autumn Salon) at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris, a short video from the Culture vs War film series was presented. The film was created by representatives of the NAA of Ukraine (director Kadim Tarasov, director of photography Yuri Gruzinov, producer Andriy Rizol, executive producer Alina Krasnyanska, EU project manager Marco Ferraro, creative producer Svyatoslav Rizol, cameramen Denys Duzhnyk, Oleg Ruz, Yuliya Bolshinska), as well as the film ART WITHOUT BORDERS that was created by the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (director Oles' Sanin, cinematographer Serhiy Kireev). "One shot, one photo can often be more eloquent than a thousand words. To draw the world's attention to the events of the war and the heroic resistance of Ukrainians, we show stories about our real-life heroes. These are not professional soldiers, but mostly people of art and culture who volunteered to defend their homeland. We show their personal stories in documentary portraits. We exhibit their documentary photographs at exhibitions. In particular, the hero of the Culture vs War project, a cameraman and serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhii Mykhalchuk, military documentary photographers Kostiantyn and Vlada Liberov, and a volunteer and hero of Azovstal, photographer Dmytro Kozatskyi," said Oles Sanin, Vice President of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. "I realise that we took our best photographs during the year of war. But if I could never ever take those pictures, I would not hesitate to accept it. These are not the pictures you want to take," said Vlada Liberova. "In addition to the machine gun, we also have a camera. We can ensure that this story, this war, is memorized," emphasised Serhii Mykhalchuk. The Culture vs War project is created by the Association "Promoting the Development of Cinema in Ukraine - Watch Ukrainian!" with the support of the European Union in Ukraine, the MHP-Hromada Foundation and the Vavilon Company.
Soon the project will be presented on the premises of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, where the audience will have a chance to meet the authors and the heroes involved. To be free to create!
