NewsOpening of the Ukrainian Avant-Garde Exhibition from the NAOMA Art Museum Collection

On 25 November, the exhibition space of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (NAOMA) hosted the official opening of the exhibition of Ukrainian avant-garde art from the collection of the NAOMA Art Museum — “Avant-Garde. ARMU. Beginnings.” The project is part of the Avant-garde Kyiv Fest, dedicated to the country's cultural phenomenon.

It is the Ukrainian Academy of Arts, from which the history of higher art education in Ukraine began, that shaped the origins of this aesthetic worldview.

Representing the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine at the opening ceremony were:
Victor Sydorenko, President of the NAA of Ukraine;
Yurii Vakulenko and Oles Sanin, Vice Presidents of the NAA of Ukraine;
Oleksii Skrypnyk, Chief Academic Secretary of the NAA of Ukraine;
Vira Barynova-Kuleba, Academician of the NAA of Ukraine;
Ganna Myronova and Andriy Puchkov, Corresponding Members of the NAA of Ukraine;
Yurii Komelkov, Honorary Academician of the NAA of Ukraine;
Andriy Sydorenko, Academic Secretary of the Modern Art Research Institute of the NAA of Ukraine.

The curatorial project showcases works of Ukrainian avant-garde painting from the 1920s–1930s created by the teachers and students of NAOMA — artists representing the national art school — and also introduces pieces from later periods.
