For more than 30 years of her creative work, Maria Levitska has designed about 200 performances, including those that have made the history of modern Ukrainian musical and drama theatres.
Since 1989, she has been the Principal Artist of the Taras Shevchenko National Opera of Ukraine, where she has decorated performances, including Prokofiev's Love for Three Oranges, Skoryk's Moses, Rachmaninoff's Aleco, Cimarosa's The Secret Marriage, Lucia di Lammermoor and Love Drink by G. Donizetti, Don Giovanni, or The Libertine Punished by W. A. Mozart, The Barber of Seville, Cinderella by G. Rossini, La Traviata, Macbeth, La Masquerade Ball, Don Carlos by G. Verdi, Wagner's Lohengrin (costumes), Madama Butterfly, Turandot, Manon Lescaut, Floria Tosca, La bohème by G. Puccini, Gioconda by A. Ponchielli, Mazepa, The Queen of Spades, Iolanta by P. Tchaikovsky, The Tale of Tsar Saltan by M. Rimsky-Korsakov, Cossack Beyond the Danube by S. Hulak-Artemovsky and others, ballets Magic Dream by M. Lysenko, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty by P. Tchaikovsky, Coppelia by L. Delibes, Corsair by A. Adan, Cinderella by S. Prokofiev, The Night Before Christmas, Vikings by Y. Stankovych, The Firebird, Petrushka by I. Stravinsky, Scheherazade by M. Rimsky-Korsakov, The Marriage of Figaro by W. A. Mozart and others. She has staged a number of productions in Ukrainian drama and music theatres, including the following performances at the Lesya Ukrainka National Academic Drama Theatre: The Passion Story by H. James, The Young Years of King Louis XIV by A. Dumas, Teibele and Her Demon by B. Singer and I. Friedman, School of Scandal by R. B. Sheridan, Fernando Krapp Wrote Me This Letter by T. Dorst, to name a few. She has worked on opera, ballet and drama performances in foreign theatres, including Sleeping Beauty (Gdansk, Poland), The Tsar's Bride (Maribor, Slovenia), Teibele and Her Demon (Haifa, Israel), The Nutcracker, Ukrainian Cinderella (Canada). M. Levitska's stage productions were performed to great praise during the National Opera of Ukraine's tours to Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, France, Spain, Italy, Canada, Japan and other countries. Mariia Levytska works prolifically in the genre of easel painting, graphics, and in the technique of batik.

In 1983, the artist received the diploma "For the Excellence of Work" at the International Festival "Prague Quadrennial", where she presented sketches of costumes and stage sets. She has participated in more than 30 art exhibitions, including solo exhibitions in Ukraine (1987, 1988, 2000, 2002, 2005), Japan (1990), Canada (1992), Poland (1991, 1996), and Israel (1997).
 M. Levitska's paintings are preserved in the State Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema of Ukraine, in private collections in Canada, Poland, Slovenia, Germany, Israel, and Ukraine.

Maria Levitska is the author of the book Muses and Music of My Theatre (Kyiv: Lybid, 2017).

She was awarded the Order of Princess Olha of the second (2015) and third (2001) class.
