The Department of Fine Arts includes 19 members: 11 academicians and 8 corresponding members.
The creative and scientific work of the members of the department is aimed at implementing the planned activities in the sphere of creative practice, as well as in the scientific, theoretical and pedagogical areas.

Over the years, the NAA of Ukraine has focused on researching important aspects of national art, developing the creative activity of artists and enriching the nation's potential in the sphere of culture and art, implementing a range of measures to preserve art heritage monuments, and improving the regulatory framework in the sector of culture and art. The Department includes full members (academicians) - V.Barinova, O.Hubarev, M.Huyda, A.Kushch, A.Melnyk, V.Mykyta, V.Perevalsky (Academic Secretary of the Department), V.Ryzhykh, V.Sydorenko, A.Chebykin, V.Chepelyk; corresponding members - M.Bilyk, G.Vasetsky, V.Vyrodova-Gauthier, V.Hanotsky, A.Kryvolap, B.Kuzma, P.Makov, T.Silvashi, V.Chebanyk; Academic Secretary of the Department - PhD Candidate in Engineering S.Berdynskykh. Since the Academy has been founded to ensure the development of Ukrainian art, the revival of national traditions, and fundamental research on the history of the formation and development of the artistic culture of Ukraine, the members of the Department are active in all spheres of cultural and artistic life, both on a state, public, scientific, educational basis and in creative workshops. The members of the department perform considerable work aimed at improving the conditions for the functioning of culture and art at the state legislative level, in particular, they participate in the development and submission of proposals to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (the Parliament) for amendments and additions to the Law of Ukraine "On Professional Artists and Creative Unions", "On the Export, Import and Return of Cultural Property". The work of the department is based on relevant legislative acts and resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine aimed at state support for the development of culture. The department initiated the drafting of the State Programme for Supporting the Development of Contemporary Art up to 2015, which contributed to strengthening the legal, social, economic and organisational framework for artists and scientists. The programme helped to improve the interaction between the authorities and artistic unions and to ensure the consistency of state support for the development of contemporary art and national culture in general. Academicians and corresponding members of the department organise and participate in international and national exhibitions, plein airs, and symposia; they are engaged in active creative and exhibition work in Ukraine and abroad, develop potential areas of international cooperation, and present works by members of the department in many countries, including the USA, France, England, Hungary, Slovakia, China, Montenegro, Austria, etc.
