The International Hot Glass Symposium in Lviv is the world’s longest-running continuous forum of glass artists, with a history that began in 1989. The symposiums are held every three years, initiated by one of the founders of the international studio glass movement in the post-socialist space, Academician of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Andriy Bokotey. Over the course of twelve editions, 270 artists from 32 countries have participated, and the collection of works created now includes more than 500 unique compositions — one of the most valuable assemblies of contemporary glass art in the world.

Over the course of ten days, the artists will work on creating the exhibition project World Glass for Ukraine, dedicated to the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression. The project will also involve war veterans currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Unbroken Center. Together with international artists, they will collaborate on an installation that will be presented at the concluding exhibition at the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv.

The symposium programme will be complemented by: an exhibition of students from the Department of Art Glass of LNAM and a solo exhibition by Polish artists Mariusz Łabiński and Igor Wójcik at the Glass Museum in Lviv; a solo exhibition by Olha Turetska at the Ivan Franko House-Museum; the competition exhibition of the Professor Andriy Bokotey Prize for Young Glass Artists 2024–2025 at the LNAM Gallery; and the presentation of the documentary "Art Born of Fire. Andriy Bokotey." The academic component of the programme will include a scientific and practical conference and the presentation of the monograph "Studio Glass in Ukraine" by Mykhailo Bokotey, corresponding member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine.
The symposium is implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation within the framework of the international exhibition project World Glass for Ukraine. The position of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation may not coincide with the views of the authors.
