News International Scientific Conference ‘Culture and Art in the Context of the russian-Ukrainian War: Artistic Strategies, Discursive Practices, Vectors of Comprehension’

We are pleased to invite you to take part in the International Scientific Conference ‘Culture and Art in the Context of the russian-Ukrainian War: Artistic Strategies, Discursive Practices, Vectors of Comprehension’ to be held on 29-30 May 2024

The conference is registered with the Ukrainian Institute of Scientific and Technical Expertise and Information (UkrISTEI). The conference sessions will be held in a hybrid mode offline + Zoom. 
The conference programme and the link to join will be published on the official websites of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine and the Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine no later than 27.05.2024.
The conference is organised by: National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Uniwersytet Zielonogórski (Poland), European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Germany), Shevchenko Scientific Society in the USA, The University of Applied Arts Vienna (Austria); Laboratoire Cultures et sociétés d'Europe orientale: Balkanique et Médiane (France), Fulbright Academic Exchange Programme in Ukraine and the Ukrainian Fulbright Circle Alumni Association, Polish-Ukrainian Centre for Humanities (Poland-Ukraine).

The conference will include a section for young scholars. Masters, postgraduate students, and doctoral students from research and educational institutions in Ukraine and abroad are invited to participate.

Conference languages: Ukrainian, English, Polish.

Conference topics:
- culture and art in times of war:
- practices of response, focus and aestheticisation;
- artistic reflections on war realities: transformation of figurative language and value system;
- art therapy as a way to overcome trauma;
- national culture and geopolitics: new discursive practices;
- cultural studies and art history:
- vectors of understanding Ukrainian identity;
- preservation and actualisation of cultural heritage in times of war;
- intercultural dialogue in Ukrainian European integration: mechanisms and prospects.

The deadline for applications and essays submission is 24.05.2024. The essays submition is voluntary, you can participate in the conference with a presentation (report) only.

Requirements for essays:
Maximum up to 4 pages.
Font: Times New Roman, size 14; line spacing 1.5.
The list of references should be drawn up in accordance with the APA style. See the algorithm for generating a list of references here

Structure of the essay:
Author's name and family name, academic degree, position, ORCID. Title of the essay, summary and conclusions.
