After graduating from the University Kyiv National Ivan Karpovych Karpenko-Karyi Theatre, Cinema and Television Universityi in 1978, Bohdan Mykhailovych Benyuk worked as an actor at the Kyiv Academic Theater of Young Spectators (1978–1980). Since 1980, he has been a leading actor at the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater. In 2018, he became head of the Department of Acting and Drama Directing at The Kyiv National Ivan Karpovych Karpenko-Karyi Theatre, Cinema and Television University. In November 2022, Bohdan Benyuk was appointed Artistic Director of the Kyiv Academic Drama Theater on Podil.
The artist is widely recognized both in Ukraine and abroad as a theater and film actor. He has played about 100 roles on the country's main national stage. Among them are: Okhrim (from Aeneid by I. Kotliarevsky), Shchyryi (eng. sincere) (from Moment by V. Vynnychenko), Motl (from Tevye the Dairyman by Sholem Aleichem), Kalyitka (from Sto Tysiach (One Hundred Thousand) by I. Karpenko-Karyi), Yurkovich (from Talent by M. Starytsky), Zaches (from Little Zaches by Hoffmann), Yago, Richard III (from Shakespeare’s Othello and Richard III), among many others.
Bohdan has an impressive filmography. Notable works include internationally acclaimed films such as Mother of Apostles (dir. Zaza Buadze), The Winner (dir. Mykola Illienko), My Carpathian Grandfather (dir. Zaza Buadze), Batko (Father, dir. Oleksii Kobzar), Captain Brovary, (dir. Eduard Nechmohlod), the TV series Khazyain (The Landowner, 2022), among many others. His creative career also includes experience as a voice actor and dubbing artist for animated films. In 2024, he was recognized as Best Actor for his role in the film My Carpathian Grandfather (2023) at the Calella Film Festival in Spain.
