Oleh Bodnar - Laureate of the Ivan Levytskyi Regional Prize in Culture, Literature, Art, Journalism and Architecture, in the Architecture nomination, for the Sknyliv Tragedy Memorial Complex (2005). Awarded: Medal of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine "For Research Achievements".
He was a Professor at the Institute of Architecture, Lviv Polytechnic National University. O. Bodnar is a bright representative of the signature style. His oeuvre includes a unique series of experimental projects that demonstrate the possibilities of using geometric structures in architectural design. These projects have been exhibited at many national and international exhibitions; his solo exhibitions were held in Lviv (1998), Haifa (Israel, 1998), Kyiv (2000), and Budapest (2003). He is known in Ukraine and beyond for his works on fundamental problems of art history, in particular in the field of interdisciplinary research; he is the author of a scientific discovery concerning the general laws of shape formation and harmonisation in nature and art.
О. Bodnar is a talented teacher and public figure, as he initiated and organised the opening of modern and promising specialities "Design" and "Design of the Architectural Environment" at Lviv Polytechnic National University; and developed and licensed curricula for these specialities. From 2004 to 2013, O. Bodnar was the Chairman of the Specialised Academic Council at the Lviv Academy of Arts, a member of the Advisory Board of the International Association for Interdisciplinary Symmetry Studies (І8І8-8УММЕЕЛ.У), an honorary member of the International Committee on the Protection of Monuments of Architecture, a member of the Specialised Academic Council of the Institute of Architecture at Lviv Polytechnic National University, and a member of the Specialised Academic Council at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts.
With his works, he contributed significantly to the development of the synthesis of arts, has more than 50 publications, including 3 monographs. Major works: the church in Ivano-Frankivsk (2001), the Metropolitan Sheptytsky Church and Museum in Prylbychi (1998), the church in Yavoriv (1995). Scientific works: monograph "The Golden Section and Non-Euclidean Geometry in Science and Art" (1994), "Formation of Spatial Structures on the Basis of Parallelograms" (1980), "Problems of Traditions in Modern Ukrainian Church Architecture" (2000); methodical instructions on the basics of architectural composition "Geometric Means of Shaping" (1986) and for the course "Basics of Composition" ("Types of Symmetry in the Plane and in Space", 1990); propaedeutic programme "Constructive Geometry" (1990); scientific films "Dynamic Symmetry", "Actual Problems of Design Theory" (2005), "Mathematical Art History - an Actual Area of Interdisciplinary Research" (2008), the project of the World Centre for Harmony and Golden Section (2012-2013).

Biography

● 1947 – was born on 1 September in the village of Perekosy, Kalush district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. ● 1972 – graduated from Lviv Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Architecture. ● 1973 – started teaching at the Department of Architecture at Lviv Agrarian University. ● 1983–1986 – postgraduate student at the All-Union Research Institute of Technical Aesthetics (Moscow).●  1986–1996 – Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, Professor at the Lviv Academy of Arts. ● 1996–2002 – Professor at the Institute of Architecture, Lviv Polytechnic National University.●  2002–2004 – Professor of the Department of Interior Design at the Lviv National Academy of Arts.●  2004–2013 – Head of the Department of Art Management, Professor at the Lviv National Academy of Arts. ● Since 2013, Professor of the Department of Design and Architecture Fundamentals at the Institute of Architecture, Lviv Polytechnic National University. Member of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine.
