Andriy Bokotey is a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine (2000). He was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of the 4th (2016) and 5th class (2013), the Silver Medal of the USSR Academy of Arts (1989), the Gold Medal of the AUC (2008).

Position - Academic Secretary of the Department of Synthesis of Plastic Arts of the NAA of Ukraine. He works in the field of decorative and applied arts (art glass). His creativity, active social and artistic position largely determine the development of contemporary Ukrainian art. The artist's work in the field of artistic blown glass began in 1970. Since then, A. Bokotey's original works have been drawing the interest of critics and art lovers both in Ukraine and beyond. A. Bokotey has held numerous exhibitions, including ten solo exhibitions in Ukraine, Russia, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Poland. He initiated the international glass symposiums in Lviv (since 1989), and also introduced the idea of establishing a glass museum in Lviv.

The significant creative and organisational achievements of A. Bokotey are inseparable from his long teaching career at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, which he chaired for a considerable period of time. His students today are internationally recognised artists who continue the traditions of their mentor with dignity. An important feature of the artist is his constant search for new ways in creativity and art education, which contributes to the development of Ukrainian art. Owing to his activity, the ties between Ukrainian art schools and art schools in Europe, the USA, and Japan have significantly expanded, and cooperation with art schools in Ukraine has intensified.

Biography

● 1938 — was born on 21 March in the village of Brid, Irshava district, Transcarpathian region.● 1965 — graduated from the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts with a degree in Art Ceramics. ● 1965–1972 — lectured at the Department of Art Ceramics of the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts.● 1972–1988 — worked as an artist. ● 1991–1992 — the head of the Lviv branch of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. ● 1992–2000 — Head of the Department of Art Glass, Vice-Rector of the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (now Lviv National Academy of Arts). ● 2000–2015 — Rector of the Lviv Academy of Arts.●  Since 2005 — Member of the Committee for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine. ● Since 2015 — Member of the Commission for State Awards and Heraldry. ● Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1970)
