Anatoliy Kushch productively works in various types of sculpture, his creative range is extensive: from generalised symbolic images to specific historical figures and phenomena. He shows himself most vividly in the field of monumental plastics.

His sculptural works reflect the dramatic history of Ukraine. He mainly depicts horsemen and female figures. Kushch traces the themes of war and peace, hatred and love, cruelty and compassion from Christian times through the hypostases of pagan deities to the present day. He works with bronze, marble, stone, and wood. He was awarded the Badge of Honour (1986), the Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR (1982), the Silver Medal of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, the Gold Medal of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2004), the Medal of the Portrait Sculptors, England (1998).
