Volodymyr Pasivenko is a talented and multifaceted artist with a broad creative range, immense dedication, and a refined artistic culture. He is the author of significant monumental and pictorial works, distinguished by his masterful craftsmanship and exceptional command of various materials and techniques. An active participant in national and international exhibitions, with over 80 showcases to his name, Pasivenko has created more than 500 works of easel painting. He was among the first artists involved in restoring the monumental decorative murals of St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral and the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. His works are housed in museums across Ukraine and the United States, as well as in numerous private collections in Ukraine, the U.S., Europe, and Japan.
Major works: the fireplace "Kuker Masks" in the reception hall of the Bulgarian General Consulate in Kyiv (1971–1972); tempera painting "Spring" in the House of Ceremonial Registration of Newborns, Kyiv (1973); comprehensive design of the Book Museum, Kyiv (1971–1974); monumental and decorative works "Night before Ivan Kupala," "Ukrainian Folk Wedding" (triptychs, 1978–1979); murals "Man and Fire," "Man and Water," "Man and Earth," "Man and Sky" in the KPI Library (1978–1981); decorative composition "Echo of the Centuries," restaurant Zoloti Vorota (Golden Gate), Kyiv (1980); color scheme design for the Troieshchyna residential district, Kyiv (1980); murals "Pain of the Earth," "Anxiety," "Dialogue" in the National Library of Ukraine named after V. Vernadskyi, Kyiv (1987–1989); monumental and decorative murals in St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery: "Cathedral of Archangel Michael and All the Heavenly Powers," "Saints Borys and Hlib," "Saint Volodymyr," "Saint Olha" (1998–2000); "Spring Came to Mother's House" (1972); "Moonlit Night in Chernihiv Region" (1983); "On the Meadow of Memories and Hopes" (1977); "Dream" (1964–1987); "Adulthood" (1990); "Return" (1991); "Two" (1996); "Union of the Earthly and the Celestial" (2005); "Dragon Slayer" (2005–2006); monumental and decorative mural "The Third Ecumenical Council" in the interior of the Assumption Cathedral of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (2007–2009); easel paintings "Autumn Evening in Kachanivka" (2012–2013), "And They Dream of That Son – Ivan" (after Taras Shevchenko, 2000–2013).
Brief biography:
1939 – born on August 8 in the village of Obychiv, Pryluky district, Chernihiv region. 1967 – graduated from the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art (Stroganov Academy) with a degree as an Artist-Designer. 1967–1970 – began his career as an engineer-artist at the Kyiv Mechanical Plant. 1970–1998 – worked as a monumental artist at the Kyiv Combine of Monumental and Decorative Arts of the Art Fund of Ukraine. Since 1999 – engaged in creative work.
Member of the creative association "Pohlyad" and the Scientific and Methodological Council for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine (monumental art section).
Awards: Medal "In Commemoration of the 1500th Anniversary of Kyiv" (1982), Medal "For Labour Valour" (1986), Medal "Veteran of Labor" (1988), Certificate of Appreciation from the Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk (2016).
