Born in 1973 in Volyn region of Ukraine. In 1997, he graduated from the Mykola Lysenko Lviv State Music Academy. In 2006, he received the academic degree of PhD Candidate of Art Studies; in 2021, Doctor of Art Studies. In 2022, he was awarded the academic title of Professor. I. Savchuk possesses extensive pedagogical experience and a substantial scholarly record. Beginning in 2002, he worked as a lecturer and accompanist at the Kyiv Children’s Academy of Arts; starting in 2003, he headed the Research and Organisational Department at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. Since 2010, he has been employed at the Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, where he gained significant experience in research administration, having served as Head of Department, Deputy Director for Research, and, since December 2022, Director of the Institute.
The scholarly output of I. Savchuk includes two monographic studies and more than 50 academic articles dedicated to current issues in art studies, with a particular focus on the work of Borys Lyatoshynsky.
I. Savchuk is a regular participant and organiser of academic conferences in Ukraine and abroad. He conducts in-depth research on the works of Ukrainian and Polish composers. He is a laureate of the international music competition “Art of the 21st Century” and an active promoter of Ukrainian piano music on international concert stages. He contributes to major cultural and artistic initiatives, including those organised by the Embassies of Ukraine in France, Lithuania, and other European countries, as well as to international music festivals in Ukraine and beyond. Under the leadership of I. Savchuk, the Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, launched an art therapy project aimed at countering the Russian Federation’s aggression in Ukraine — “Art-A-Art,” implemented in cooperation with the National Military Medical Clinical Centre “Main Military Clinical Hospital.”
He has been awarded: the Honorary Diploma of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2011); the Diploma of the International Academy of Rating Technologies and Sociology “Golden Fortune” (2017); the Distinction of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine “For Years of Fruitful Work in the Field of Culture” (2019); and the Silver and Gold Medals of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2021, 2023).
