Ihor Shcherbakov belongs to the generation of contemporary Ukrainian composers and stands as a leading figure among today’s musicians. He is the founder and music director of the International Forum of Young Music festival, as well as the music director of the International Festival “Musical Premieres of the Season.” In the final quarter of the 20th century, he was one of the first to turn to spiritual themes and continues to work actively in this domain, which resonates deeply with his ideals, subjects, and imagery.

The creative output of Ihor Shcherbakov includes opera, oratorios, symphonic works, concertos, chamber symphonies, choral and chamber-instrumental music, compositions for children, and music for theatrical productions. His works are performed widely both in Ukraine and internationally, including in Algeria, Belarus, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, the United States, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Switzerland, and beyond. His compositions are published in Ukraine, the United States, and Switzerland. CDs featuring his music have been recorded in Poland, the United States, and Switzerland. Shcherbakov skillfully combines his creative work with teaching.
