Roman Shyrman is the author of books: Television Directing (2004), The Alchemy of Directing (2008), Smart Television (2011), Mockumentaries in Film and Television (2015), and The Director's Intention of a Screen Work (2019). He is the author of more than 50 documentaries and feature films. Among them: "The Tree Under the Window (1996), The Stalinist Syndrome (1989), Leopold (2001), A Dangerously Free Man (2005), Execute the Executioner (2006), A Funny Fairy Tale (2009), Now I Will Love You (2015), Basil (2020), and others.
Among his film awards:  Main Prize of the 16th International Documentary Film Festival (2005), Main Prize “Art Amphora” of the X Balkan International Children's Film Festival (2009), Main Prize and Best Director Prize of the 8th International Festival of Television Programmes “Velvet Season”, First Prize of the First International Documentary Film Festival “Contact”, Silver Medal of the International Film Festival of Educational Films in Brno, prizes and diplomas of film festivals in the Czech Republic, China, France, Great Britain, Turkey, Israel, etc.
Head of the Department of Cinema and Television Arts at the Faculty of Cinema and Television of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. Secretary of the Board of the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine.
