Larysa Skoryk is the author of over 30 architectural works, ranging from the development of comprehensive urban planning solutions to the design of individual buildings, the integration of artistic elements in architectural interiors and exteriors, spatial composition, and architectural-landscape ensembles. She has a particular interest in the preservation of historical heritage and the harmonious coexistence of old and new in the reconstruction of historic cities.
She is the author of numerous scholarly works, and her creative projects have been recognized with awards and diplomas. Major works include: the planning and development of the central part of Tysmenytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk region (1964); the design of the Shevchenkivskyi Hai open-air museum park in Lviv; the master plan for Mukachevo, Zakarpattia region; the master plan for the citywide recreation zone Hlynna-Navariya in Lviv (1966); a competition project for the Intourist Hotel in Lviv; reconstruction projects for the central parts of Lviv (1970), Khmelnytskyi (1973), Vinnytsia (1974), and Ivano-Frankivsk (1983); the complex of the Church of All Saints of the Ukrainian People in Lviv (1994); the monastery and Church of St. Basil the Great in Kyiv (1993–1999); a resort hotel in Yevpatoria (2004); the university church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Cherkasy (2003); the design for the Egyptian National Museum in Cairo (2003); the project for a chapel commemorating the Church of the Tithes, incorporating the museification of preserved foundations within an underground museum at the site of the Kniazha Dytynets in Kyiv (2004); the reconstruction project for Kontraktova Square in Kyiv (2004); the project for the Rehabilitation Center for Afghan War Veterans in Kyiv (2005); the design of an office complex on Bastionna Street in Kyiv (2006); the Mamayeva Sloboda open-air museum in Kyiv (1992–2006); the Church of Saint Prince Volodymyr in Zhytomyr (2002–2006); the design of the Bykivnia Graves Memorial Complex (2010); and the project for Reconstruction and Restoration Works at the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko in Kyiv, including the repair of Shevchenko’s house (2011–2013).
Between 2002 and 2006, 30 publications by Larysa Skoryk were published, addressing current issues in contemporary architecture.
Brief biography: 1939 – Born on October 4 in the city of Lubych, Poland. 1960 – Graduated from Lviv Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Architecture. 1960–1961 – Architect at the Donetsk Design Institute "Dipromisto." 1961–1963 – Engineer-architect at the Lviv Design Institute "Teploelektroproekt." 1963–1967 – Architect at the Lviv Design Institute "Dipromisto." 1967–1970 – Postgraduate student at Kyiv Engineering and Construction Institute. Since 1971 – Lecturer at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.
Deputy Chair of the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments, member of the Ukrainian National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), head of the architectural workshop "L. Skoryk." Professor at the Department of Architectural Design at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.
Awards: Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th Degree (2010), Honorary Certificate of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (1991), Kyiv Mayor’s Distinction "Badge of Honour" (2004), Silver Medal of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2009).
