Bohdan Strutynskyi, after two years of study at the Rivne Institute of Culture, entered at The Kyiv National Ivan Karpovych Karpenko-Karyi Theatre, Cinema and Television University, graduating in 1996 with a degree in “Acting and Drama Directing.” Since 2003, he has served as the General Director and Artistic Director of Kyiv National Academic Theatre of Operetta.
As a director, Strutynskyi has created numerous notable productions, including Kaminnyi Hospodar (The Stone Host) by Lesia Ukrainka (Ivano-Frankivsk national regional Ukrainian musical drama theatre named after Ivan Franko), Vesna i svitle Voskresinnia (Spring and Bright Resurrection) based on the poem Marusia Churai by Lina Kostenko (the Taras Shevchenko Kharkiv Academic Ukrainian Drama Theatre), the Ukrainian-Austrian project Anatol by Arthur Schnitzler (Kyiv), and Myna Mazailo by Mykola Kulish (Ivano-Frankivsk). At the Theatre of Operetta, he staged productions such as A Supper with Italians by Jacques Offenbach, My Fair Lady by Frederick Loewe, The Gypsy Baron by Johann Strauss, SUGAR or Some Like It Jazz by J. Styne, The Sound of Music by R. Rodgers, Fiddler on the Roof by J. Bock, Dorian Gray (based on Oscar Wilde’s novel), and served as project manager and director for the production of Chicago to music by John Kander.
Strutynskyi is also the creator and organizer of the International Music Festival O-FEST and the International Arts Festival Carpathian Space, as well as the initiator of the International Association conference Opera Europa. He serves as the Head of the National Union of Theatre Artists of Ukraine and the Director of the All-Ukrainian Theatre Festival-Award GRA (Great Real Art), founded by the Union in 2018.
