Alla Tereshchenko is a leading scholar in Ukrainian musicology, as she represents its achievements at numerous national and international conferences and promotes them globally through art history journals and collected volumes (she is a member of the editorial boards of several professional publications). The researcher took an active part in writing articles for fundamental publications – Ukrainian Music Encyclopedia and Encyclopedia of Ukrainian Studies, and processed materials for multi-volume works: History of Ukrainian Culture and History of Ukrainian Music. For many years, A. Tereshchenko has been engaged in teaching, serving as a professor at the Ivan Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television. She regularly contributes relevant presentations on musicological issues to scientific conferences and roundtables initiated by the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. In 2009, the collected volume of scholarly articles 'Musical Ukrainian Studies. A Contemporary Dimension', published in honour of A. Tereshchenko, was released.

The researcher's academic work includes over 120 publications. She makes considerable efforts to popularize and preserve the creative heritage of national musical art. Her articles in professional collections and journals reflect the current state of art history and define the scope of scholarly inquiry in the field of theory and history of Ukrainian music.

Key academic works by A. Tereshchenko include: Roman Simovych (1973), Ukrainian Soviet Cantata and Oratorio (1980), Anatolii Solovianenko (1982, 2nd edition 1988), Anatolii Kos-Anatolskyi (1986), Lviv State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Ivan Franko (1989), Anatolii Solovianenko. The Ukrainian Voice That Spoke to the Whole World (2002), Anatolii Solovianenko. Creative Path (2009), A Few Words on the Genre of Musical and Its Stage Interpretations (2019), and others. She is the author of chapters in collective monographs, including Lviv Opera and Ballet Theatre (dedicated to the 100th anniversary, chapter “Lviv Opera Theater 1945-1991” (2020); chapter “Ukrainian Vocal-Symphonic Music” in volume III of the collective publication History of Ukrainian Music (2020), and the fundamental edition Ukrainian Cantata and Oratorio (2021).
