Yuriy Vakulenko has been awarded the following: Certificate of Honour of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2008), Diploma of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine (2011), Orders of Merit III class (2012), Order of Merit II class (2020), Gold Medal of the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture (2017), Silver Medal of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2017). Chevalier of the Order of Carl Fabergé (2007). He has a Badge of Honour from the Head of the Kyiv City State Administration.
Director General of the National Museum "Kyiv Art Gallery" (Kyiv National Art Gallery).
The artist works in various areas of Ukrainian art. Among the significant projects of Y. Vakulenko: the restoration of the church decorated with paintings by Vasyl Tropinin in the village of Kukavka, Mohyliv-Podilskyi district, Vinnytsia region, numerous and large-scale works on the restoration of monumental and easel paintings, wooden polychrome and stone sculptures, books and engravings, metal, ceramics, leather, and precious fabrics.
Y. Vakulenko has been working productively as an artist in the last decade. In the period from 2007 to 2014, 12 personal exhibitions of the artist were held, among the last - "...Izmy" at the Museum of Contemporary Painting (2019, Dnipro city).
The works of Y. Vakulenko are kept in the museum collections of Ukraine, in particular, in the collection of the Kyiv-Pechersk Reserve and the National Museum "Kyiv Art Gallery" (Kyiv National Art Gallery).

1957 – born on 19 November in Nizhny Tagil (Russian Federation).1986 – graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute, Faculty of Restoration.2004 – Director General of the Kyiv National Museum of Russian Art (since 2017 - National Museum "Kyiv Art Gallery", or Kyiv National Art Gallery).2010 – Associate Professor of the Department of Expertise of the National Academy of Culture and Arts Management.2011 — Member of the Development Council of the Mystetskyi Arsenal National Art and Culture Museum Complex, Kyiv city.Since 2022 – Vice President of the NAA of Ukraine.
