Myroslav Vantukh is a prominent Ukrainian choreographer. The source of inspiration for his dance compositions is the artistic traditions of his native Galician region, which he skilfully combines with world dance experience. As the head of the P.P. Virsky Ensemble, M. Vantukh combines the experience of a teacher and educator with a deep knowledge of folk traditions and rituals. The multifaceted creativity of the ensemble under the direction of the academician has become a hallmark of Ukrainian art far beyond the borders of Ukraine. During his creative life, M. Vantukh created and staged nearly 50 choreographic productions, suites, dances, and pieces, many of which (including "Carpathians", "Summer of Youth", "Ukrainian Men's Dance with Tambourines", "Ukrainian Greeting", "Kozachok", "Volyn Polka", "Hopak", "In Peace and Harmony", "Gypsy", etc.) were included in the Ukrainian choreography collection fund. M. Vantukh carefully preserves P. Virsky's wonderful productions, which our contemporaries can still admire today. And with his personal work, the artist extends the beauty of Ukrainian dance. His incendiary, bright, perfect choreographic compositions, both in form and content, have gained worldwide recognition.
Professor M. Vantukh has trained a pleiad of masters of choreographic art for creative work. As the head of the Department of Choreography at the National Academy of Culture and Arts, he is constantly engaged in the study of Ukrainian folk choreography and the prospects for its further development. In 1992, there was established a choreographic school at the ensemble, where 260 children study.
In 2003, upon the initiative of M. Vantukh, the National Choreographic Union was established. M. Vantukh is the author of scientific and educational works. The creative achievements of the artistic director of the ensemble are evidenced by the ensemble's touring performances in almost 80 countries, as well as reviews and feedback in the national and foreign media.
