Iryna Zubavina is the author of the scientific monographs Screen Culture: Means of Modelling Artistic Reality (2006), Time and Space in Cinema (2007), Cinema of Independent Ukraine: Trends, Films, Figures (2008), Ontology of Virtual Space: Screen Studies" (2021), co-author of collective monographs, including "Essays on the History of Ukrainian Cinema" (2006); "Interdisciplinary Research on the Patterns of Contemporary Screen Discourse" (2014) and the collective monograph "Image-Spectator Narrative in Contemporary Cultural Space" (2019); author of about 100 scientific articles and 400 publications on the history and theory of culture, screen studies, cultural studies, etc. He is the compiler of several scientific publications on audio-visual education, a member of the editorial boards of academic publications. Since 1998, holding the position of Academic Secretary of the Department of Cinema Art, I. Zubavina has been in charge of the coordination of the department's activities in the implementation of scientific tasks. She has repeatedly organised and moderated scientific and practical conferences, round tables, and other scientific and creative events.
Combining scientific and scientific-organisational work with pedagogical activity, for 30 years she has been training scientific and creative personnel, giving lectures at the Karpenko-Kary Institute of Screen Arts of the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, at the Department of Cinema Studies; she has consistently formed a research school of postgraduates, masters and undergraduates. Since 2017, she has been a senior researcher at the Department of Theory and History of Culture at the Modern Art Research Institute of the NAA of Ukraine, and lectures at the postgraduate course of this institution.

Member of the National Union of Cinematographers, 2009-2013 - Secretary of the Board of the NUCU. Member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Section of Theory of the NUAU. Member of the Association of Film Critics of the NUCU. Member of the International Federation of the Film Press FIPRESCI. For 20 years in a row, she has been officially accredited at the International Berlin Film Festival.

She was awarded the Certificate of Honour of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2012), the Golden Fortune Award (2015) and (2019).
